Are electronic signatures legally binding in Australia?

Generally yes. The Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth) and its state equivalents recognise an electronic signature where the method identifies the signer, shows their intention to sign, and is as reliable as appropriate for the purpose — and where the other party consents to signing electronically. Signadoc records consent, the signer’s email address, IP address, timezone and timestamps, and binds them into a certificate attached to the sealed document. Some documents, such as wills, powers of attorney, statutory declarations and certain land dealings, carry additional requirements or are excluded, so check your document type.

Where is my data stored?

In the Sydney region. Documents and personal information are not transferred overseas, and are encrypted in transit and at rest. Our handling of personal information is set out in the Privacy Policy and follows the Australian Privacy Principles.

Do prices include GST?

Plan prices are shown without GST, and the total you pay is shown underneath each one: Starter is $9 + GST, which comes to $9.90 a month, and Business is $59 + GST, or $64.90 a month. Codeless Pty Ltd is registered for GST, so 10% is added to every paid plan and you get a tax invoice for each payment, which you can download from your billing settings.

Do the people I send documents to need an account?

No. Recipients sign from a link in their email, on any device, without signing up or installing anything.

What counts towards my monthly document allowance?

Sending a document for signature uses one from the allowance. Drafts, documents you sign yourself, and documents already out for signature are not counted again. When an allowance runs out, documents already with signers are never affected.

Can I use Signadoc as an individual, not a business?

Yes. You still get a workspace of your own, and the free plan covers two documents a month, which is usually enough for a rental agreement or a private sale. Nothing asks you for an ABN. If other people get involved later, invite them and the sharing features are already there.

Can I send documents from my own system?

Yes, with the REST API and webhooks, which are included from the Business plan up. One call creates the document, places the fields and names the signers, and a signed webhook tells your system when it comes back completed. The developer documentation is open to everyone, so you can read it before you commit to a plan.

Can I change plan later?

Yes, from your organisation’s billing settings. Your documents, templates and members stay exactly as they are.

How do I cancel, and do you refund?

Cancel any time from billing settings. Your plan keeps running until the end of the month you have already paid for, and does not renew after that. We do not refund the current period or unused parts of it. That does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law — if the service fails to meet a consumer guarantee you are entitled to a remedy.
